After the release of several undercover videos produced by the Center for Medical Progress, one would think that Planned Parenthood would have received some sort of legal backlash. Instead David Daleiden, the organization’s founder, has been indicted with criminal charges in Texas.
The videos, produced by David Daleiden, chronicled attempts made by multiple Planned Parenthood executives to sell the parts of aborted babies. In one of the videos, a Planned Parenthood executive haggled over the prices of the aborted baby organs, confessing that she “want[ed] to buy a Lamborghini.”
From the Washington Times:
“The activists, David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, were indicted on charges of tampering with a government record. Both posed as executives of a fake biomedical research company to tape Planned Parenthood doctors and clinic managers talking about harvesting fetal tissue, according to court documents.
Mr. Daleiden was also indicted under a law prohibiting the solicitation or sale of human organs, which suggests grand jurors thought he went too far in trying to snare Planned Parenthood.“As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us,” Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson said in announcing the findings.”
Harvesting and selling fetal body parts or tissue is absolutely illegal, nationwide. The video series released by Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress explicitly documented top Planned Parenthood executives attempting to break the law, but instead, is Daleiden that has been charged with attempting to buy fetal tissue.
It was Daleiden that posed as a fetal tissue buyer in the undercover video.
In a statement on Monday, Daleiden had this to say about the charges:
“The Center for Medical Progress uses the same undercover techniques that investigative journalists have used for decades in exercising our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and of the press, and follows all applicable laws. We respect the processes of the Harris County District Attorney, and note that buying fetal tissue requires a seller as well. Planned Parenthood still cannot deny the admissions from their leadership about fetal organ sales captured on video for all the world to see.”
Only in today’s world would someone who defends life inside the womb be the one facing criminal charges. We have truly lost our way.
